Samuel A. Perry was born on September 19 1993 in Ogun State. He has three brothers and he is the first. His father was an actor and also a teacher at Mayflower Junior School where he taught drama, dance, and music before his death. He is currently one of the famous comedians in Nigeria who started his comedy journey at a young age. Even as a child, he always get compliments from people who described him as a hilarious lad. He was inspired by his late father who was a drama teacher in his school. He obtained his primary and secondary school certificates in Ogun state and proceeded to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) where he bagged a degree in Creative Arts.

Broda Shaggi started acting when he was still a student at the University of Lagos. Then he was doing the normal style of comedy but his efforts were futile as he wasn’t noticed, hence he moved to the street guy style (Agbero) which gave him colossal recognition. While in the university, he released Inspector Perry (his first content), Akani Ibadan, and Lecturer Dele but these three contents weren’t released under the brand name “Broda Shaggi”. He Adopted the stage name at a mechanic workshop and started using it in December 2017.

Before fame, Broda Shaggi has worked with ROK Media and African Magic. He has also been in Nollywood movies like ‘Unfinished Business’, ‘Ghetto Breed’ and Dear Mummy B.

While in the university, Shaggi adopted a lot of skills just to fend for himself. He acted several times on stage plays, engaged in painting, and also formed a group called “The Stage Addicts” which comprised ten of them. All these he did just to survive as a student. His group ‘The Stage Addicts’ was privileged to perform in a show where former Lagos state governor and also the former president of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan were a guest. Furthermore, he wrote scripts and direct. These made him popular in school then and his friends told him he’ll go far in life. In an interview with The Punch Newspaper, Shaggi revealed that he shot the comedy that thrown him into stardom with an android phone.
