Udoka Chigozie Oku better known by his stage name Selebobo was born on 29 July 1992 in Enugu State by christian parents. Selebobo hails from Ukpo, Oranto village in Dunukofia Local Government Area, Anambra State but was born and raised in Enugu where he had his Primary and secondary school leaving certificate. He was born into a family of 12 and he is the 11th child. Selebobo was born by a musician father “Goddy Oku” who was a renowned guitarist in the early 1970s. As such he was taught musical instruments like guitar and piano. All these he learnt from his father especially the guitar and was recording music in his father’s studio “Goddiac Studio”. His brother Okechukwu Oku is a popular director in Nigerian entertainment industry. By the time he was 12, he started producing music using his little Yamaha DJX keyboard. After completing his secondary school, he moved to Anambra state to further his studies at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Akwa where he had Bachelor’s degree in Fine and Applied Art.

Selebobo started as a songwriter and producer. He rose to fame after the release of his 2013 self-produced hit track “Yoyo” where he collaborated with J Martins. Yoyo was a massive success for Selebobo. It recieved generally positive review from music critics. In 2014, he signed a record deal with Made Men Music Group along with Tekno, Emma Nyra, Iyayan and others, but left after contract expiration. In 2019 he announced his own record label “Vault Records” with no signed act. He is the brain behind Jonny a song that brought Yemi Alade into the limelight. As a creative producer, he is also the producer of Flavour’s hit single “Ada Ada” and the producer of Mr. Oreo by his former record label mate, Iyayan. In 2018, he was nominated for the category of Best Producer of the Year at The Headies. He has released several hit songs such as Tonyor (featuring Mr. P), Eliza, Ova (featuring Tekno), Waka Waka (featuring Davido), and many others.
