Simisola Ogunleye Kosoko, better known by her stage name as Simi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, actress, and sound engineer. She was born and raised in Ojuelegba, Lagos State. She is married to the famous Nigerian hitmaker, Adekunle Gold since 2019 and is also the chief executive officer of Studio Brat record label. She is currently among the top female artist in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $2 million.

Simi Early Life and Education.
Simi was born on 19 April 1988 in the Ojuelegba area of Lagos State. She was born into the Ogunleye family and she is the last child of four. She grew up as a tomboy because she is the only girl from her mother with three elder brothers. Hence, she’d wore sneakers, baggy jeans and sometimes watched horror movies with her brothers. It was quite unfortunate for Simi as her parents got separated when she was just 9 years old. She obtained her secondary certificate at Stars International College, Ikorodu in Lagos state and proceeded to Covenant University where she had a degree in mass communication.
Simi Musical Career
Simi started singing and dancing at a tender age. At 10, she recorded her first single and was also in the choir group in her church. In 2006, Simi started her music journey as a gospel singer, but her songs weren’t that appreciated until she switched to secular songs. She started officially in 2018 following the release of her studio album “Ogaju” which featured different tracks such as “Are IIe”, “Iya Temi”, the album was entirely produced by Samklef. She got signed a record deal with X3M Music in 2014 after the release of her five (5) track EP, “Restless” which comprises most covers of famous stars such as Rihanna’s “Man Down” and Adele “Set Fire To The Rain”. Simi also released two singles in that same year ” Tiff” and “E No Go Funny” the tracks received positive reviews and “Tiff” was nominated by The Headies for Best Alternative Song in 2015. Later in 2015, she released another hit track “Jamb Question” which earned her massive airplay and the music video has surpassed 4.8 million views on YouTube. In early 2016, she released the remix of Jamb Question featuring the Nigerian famous rapper, Falz.
In February 2016, Simi released her emotional track “Love Don’t Care” the track centers on tribal, racial, and religious crises ravaging the world and calls for peace and Harmony. The song was produced by Heman Ackah and the visual was directed by Clarence Peters. In October 2016, Simi collaborated with Falz to release the fascinated extended play (EP) “Chemistry” and that same October, she was nominated for Best Breakthrough Act at the MTV Africa Music Awards. She was also nominated 3 times in December that same year at The Headies and she won one.
Upon the release of Simi’s eponymous album, Simi dominated the Nigerian music industry as the album “Simisola” earned her numerous awards and nominations. The album was released on September 8 2017 by her erstwhile record label, X3M Music and it featured 5 tracks ( Tiff, Joromi, Jamb Question, Smile For Me, and Love Don’t Care). Simisola serves as a follow-up to her debut 2008 album “Ogaju”. The album was crowned number five on Billboard World Album Chart for one week and also won the Album of the Year Award at The Headies in 2018 alongside other numerous nominations.
In March 2019 Simi announced the release of her 13-track album “Omo Charlie Champagne Vol. 1”. The album came with heavyweight tracks like, “Ayo” and “I Dun Care”. She released the album on April 19 2019 to celebrate her birthday and also the album was dedicated to her late father, Charles Oladele Ogunleye.
In 2020 Simi dropped Duduke, in the video, Simi was seen dancing effortlessly with her baby bump.
