Teniola Apata, better known by her stage name, Teni was born and bred in Lagos State Nigeria. She was born into the Apata family on 12 December 1992 in Lagos where she had her primary and secondary schools. She completed her high school at Apata Memorial High School which is a military-style boarding and day school in Lagos. She later preceded to American InterContinental University where she had a degree in business administration.

Teni started her music career at a young age. She was first signed to Magic Fingers Records by Shizzi and she released her first track “Amen” under the label. She later dumped the record label and got signed to Dr. Dolor Entertainment in 2017 where she released many hit tracks. Later that same year, she released Fargin that was when she started gaining public attention. She rose into prominence with the release of Askamaya, Uyo Meyo, and Case. In 2018, one of the singles, “Askamaya” was ranked 15 on MTV base year-end list of The Top 20 Hottest Naija Tracks. In 2019 Teni was featured on Youtube Music’s Trending Artists on The Rise. In June 2019, she released another hit track “Power Rangers” that topped most music platforms by the end of 2019 and early 2020.

In 2019, Teni unleashed her debut studio six-track album “The Billionaire EP”. The album was produced by Nigerian producers like Pheelz and Jaysynths with no guest artist. In 2020 she collaborated with DJ Neptune to release another EP tagged ” The Quarantine Playlist” with production from P-Prime and other skilled producers. In February 2021 Teni took to her various social media handles to announce the release of her forthcoming album”Wondaland”. The album had a guest feature from Davido on a track called “For You” which became a hit across the country.
