Bode George, a senior official and leader of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticized Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, for his anti-Igbo remarks.
George expressed surprise that Onanuga is representing Tinubu after he made some hateful and inflammatory remarks on social media, claiming that the APC leader is not even from Lagos. George called these remarks to hate speech.
Onanuga cautioned Igbos against “interfering” with politics in the state after Saturday’s Lagos State governorship election was declared successful.
He added that the state belongs to the Yoruba and that Igbos should stop meddling in Lagos politics by 2023.
According to NAIJADISCO, racial unrest in Lagos State occurred a few days before the election.
George said during his Tuesday morning appearance on Arise TV.
“This is what I meant when I said existential madness. Bayo Onanuga is not even from Lagos. He was an Ijebu native. I argued that because of his hate speech, they should bring him before the international court of justice.
And he wants to go to the Villa with the kind man [Tinubu] . How are you going to coexist with the Igbos and the other tribes in Nigeria? The fact that he still represents the alleged candidate when speaking here is surprising to me.
“Why should we lower our standards and degrade ourselves, making that kind of public statement and saying he has no apology?”.
“They should bring him before the international court of justice for using hate speech because we can’t predict how it will turn out until it begins. Either we coexist as humans or we join the animal kingdom. “.
